Privacy Policy
The short version
StoryB collects nothing about you. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking of any kind, and no server of ours for anything to be sent to. Your storyboards, drawings, sets and exports are files on your own Mac, and they stay there unless you move them yourself.
What stays on your Mac
Everything you make: storyboard documents, the pictures inside them, models you import, poses you save, and anything you export. StoryB also keeps a few preferences – window sizes, the settings the export panels were last left at, which day the free month started – in the app's own preferences on your Mac. The day the free month started is also kept in your Mac's keychain, so that deleting and reinstalling the app does not start the month again; that entry is not synced to iCloud. None of it leaves the machine, and none of it is readable by us.
StoryB runs in Apple's App Sandbox and can open only the files and folders you give it, through the standard macOS open and save panels.
When StoryB uses the network at all
There are exactly two occasions, and neither sends anything you have made.
1. Buying or restoring StoryB Pro. The purchase – the monthly subscription or the one-time purchase – is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit and the App Store, and so is redeeming a code. The app asks the App Store two questions – what StoryB Pro costs, and whether this Apple Account has it – and receives two answers. We never see, receive or store your name, your Apple Account, your card, or any other payment detail: Apple is the seller, and pays us afterwards. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
2. Importing a project made in Storyboarder. If a project you import refers to a 3D model that this app does not carry, StoryB offers to fetch that one file from its public GitHub repository over HTTPS, and saves it into the app's Application Support folder on your Mac. The request is an ordinary web request for a public file – GitHub can see that a request was made and from which IP address, as any website can – and nothing about your project, your boards or you is included in it. If you never import a Storyboarder project, this never happens.
There is nothing else. StoryB does not check for updates itself (the App Store does that), does not phone home, and has no telemetry.
Crash reports
If you have agreed with Apple to share diagnostics and usage data with developers, Apple may give us crash reports about StoryB through App Store Connect. Those are Apple's reports, in Apple's aggregate form: a stack trace and the kind of Mac it happened on. They do not include your documents, and they do not identify you. You can turn this off at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements.
Children
StoryB is not directed at children, collects nothing from anyone, and is rated 4+. Since no personal data is collected, none is collected from children either.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to show you, correct, export or delete on request. If you believe we hold something about you nevertheless, write to cob.hayride_0r@icloud.com and we will answer within 30 days.
Data that Apple holds about your purchase – as the seller – is Apple's, and requests about it go to Apple.
Changes
If this policy changes, the published document is replaced in place with a new effective date. A change that ever introduced collection of personal data would be announced in the app before it took effect.
